Bobcat Services For Tight East Bay Backyards

A six foot gate is all we need. How compact equipment with an experienced operator gets serious work done behind East Bay homes.

Half the properties in Berkeley, El Cerrito and Albany hide their real project behind a narrow side gate. Homeowners assume that means hand digging, wheelbarrows, and a week of labor at labor prices. Usually it does not.

Legacy Demolition is a licensed local crew based in El Sobrante, working across Contra Costa and Alameda County with one fixed written number per job, permits and disposal included.

The Backyard Problem Every East Bay Home Has

Compact equipment exists precisely for this. A mini excavator or a compact track loader passes through a standard six foot gate, works in a footprint smaller than most patios, and does in a day what a crew with shovels does in five.

What Fits, And What It Can Do Once It Is In There

The machine that fits is the machine that decides your scope. Once it is in the yard, the list of things it can handle is longer than most people expect.

  • Grading and leveling for patios, sheds and lawns
  • Access cuts and excavation for pool removal
  • Trenching for utilities, irrigation and drainage
  • Breaking and loading out concrete with a hydraulic breaker
  • Moving and spreading base rock, soil and gravel
  • Stump and root ball removal after clearing

Attachments matter as much as the machine. A breaker, auger, grapple or forks changes what a single mobilization can accomplish, which is how one day of equipment replaces three separate contractors.

The Operator Is The Product

We do not rent machines without operators, and that is deliberate. Bare rental hands you liability, a learning curve, and a very expensive lesson if you clip a gas line or drop a track off a retaining wall.

What you are actually booking is production: someone who knows how much a bucket holds, how to protect a lawn on the way in and out, and how close is too close to a foundation. The machine is just the tool they arrive with.

Protecting Everything On The Way In

Getting a machine into a backyard is a plan, not an improvisation. We measure the gate, check overhead clearance for wires and branches, and lay protection over lawns and hardscape along the travel path.

Where the gate genuinely will not work, a fence panel comes off and goes back cleaner than we found it. That is a normal part of the job, agreed with you in advance, not a surprise on the day.

Hourly Or Fixed Scope

Short, open-ended tasks work fine hourly. Anything with a defined outcome is usually cheaper as a fixed scope, because we carry the risk of it taking longer than expected instead of you.

Either way it is in writing before we start, including any tight-access allowance. See our Bobcat and excavator service for rates and scope.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the smallest space you can work in?

A standard six foot gate. Narrower than that we assess on the walk-through, and sometimes a fence panel comes off and goes back cleaner than we found it.

Do you rent equipment without an operator?

No. Every machine comes with an experienced operator, so you are booking production rather than taking on liability.

Will the machine wreck my lawn?

We lay protection along the travel path and regrade our own tracks on the way out. Damage from access is planned for, not accepted.

What is the minimum booking?

Half day minimums typically apply. For defined work, a fixed scope is often cheaper than hourly, and we quote both.
